Team India's Shivam Dube departed cheaply in the side's 2024 T20 World Cup match against Afghanistan in Barbados on Thursday, June 20. The southpaw failed to make a significant impact, perishing after scoring just 10 runs off seven balls.

Rohit Sharma won the toss for the Men in Blue and chose to bat first. The team found themselves in a precarious position after losing early wickets. Dube walked out to bat when India were 62/3 in 8.3 overs.

With Afghanistan spinners bowling in tandem, the stage for set for Dube, who has been very effective against spin in his Indian Premier League (IPL) career. He showed some promise, hitting a massive six off Noor Ahmad's bowling in the 10th over.

However, he was dismissed in the very next over. Afghanistan captain Rashid Khan won the battle against the swashbuckling batter, getting him out LBW.

It was a quicker delivery from Rashid. Dube was undone by the turn and extra pace and the ball ended up crashing onto the pads. While the on-field umpire adjudged him not out, the crafty spinner opted for the DRS, and the decision was overturned.

Shivam Dube has been struggling with his form lately

Shivam Dube looked in decent touch for the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) in the first half of IPL 2024. However, he seemed to have lost some steam towards the back end of the tournament.

His struggles continued at the 2024 T20 World Cup as well. The all-rounder scored just three runs in nine deliveries before falling to Naseem Shah in the group-stage encounter against Pakistan.

The 30-year-old played a decent knock in the subsequent fixture with the United States of America (USA). Dube remained unbeaten on 31 off 35 balls as India chased down a 111-run target with seven wickets in hand.
