Team India batter Shubman Gill perished for 13 runs off 15 deliveries in the final session of Day 2 of the fifth Border-Gavaskar series Test in Sydney. The dismissal marked Beau Webster's maiden Test wicket as struck immediately after coming into the attack in the 16th over of the second innings.
After a cagey first innings, where India had to fight for every run to end up with 185 on the board, the visitors came out all guns blazing the second time around. Coming into the side in place of skipper Rohit Sharma, and reclaiming his No.3 slot, Gill scored 20 in the first innings.
The right-handed batter showcased his intent with a boundary off the second ball. The all-out aggressive approach continued against the testing conditions and the tight bowling on offer.
Gill stepped down the track attempting to charge and slog a length delivery to the stands. However, he could only get an inside edge, which traveled to the left of wicket-keeper Alex Carey. The glovesman took a fine catch with a dive, with the umpires confirming that it was a clean take to end Gill's stay at the crease.

Team India, guided by Rishabh Pant, are going forward with an aggressive approach despite being four down in the final session with a marginal lead. As of writing, the side is placed at 124-4 after 22 overs.
Gill finishes BGT 2024-25 with only 93 runs in five innings
After a landmark debut series in Australia during the 2020-21 Border-Gavaskar series, Gill has had a dreadful time outside the subcontinent. The pressure was on him to deliver at No.3 in the ongoing tour, but the campaign did not pan out as hoped.
The batter missed the series opener in Perth due to a finger injury sustained during a match simulation. He then recorded a series of starts in the pink ball Test in Adelaide, before brain fade dismissals dominated the proceedings in Brisbane and Sydney.
He was dropped for the Boxing Day Test as India introduced the second spinner in Washington Sundar into the mix. His highest score in the entire series was 31 in the first innings during the second Test.
