Team India's opening batter Shubman Gill has begun his preparations for the upcoming 17th edition of the Duleep Trophy. The 24-year-old was recently seen sweating it out in the nets to gear up for the domestic red-ball competition.

Gill has been named captain of Team A for the Duleep Trophy 2024. The side also features Riyan Parag, Shivam Dube, Kuldeep Yadav, Khaleel Ahmed, Avesh Khan, and KL Rahul.

One of Gill's fans shared a video on the microblogging platform X, giving a glimpse of the batter's practice session. You can watch the clip below:

Shubman Gill was last seen in action during India's tour of Sri Lanka. The two Asian teams battled it out against each other in a three-match T20I series, which was followed by three ODIs.

Gill was the vice-captain in both formats. He scored 73 runs across two T20I outings. It is worth mentioning that he was unavailable for selection in the second fixture due to a neck spasm. The youngster failed to make a significant impact with the bat in the subsequent ODI series, mustering just 57 runs across three innings.

Shubman Gill will look to find some form in the Duleep Trophy 2024 ahead of Team India's red-ball season

Getting some runs under his belt would boost Shubman Gill's confidence ahead of India's upcoming two-match home Test series against Bangladesh. The series opener will be played at MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai from September 19 onwards.

The second and final Test of the series will be played at Green Park in Kanpur from September 27. Following the red-ball outings, the two Asian teams will also lock horns in a three-match T20I series.

The Men in Blue will then take on New Zealand in a three-match Test series at home, beginning October 16, before heading to Australia for the Border-Gavaskar Trophy.

India and Australia will compete in a five-match Test series. The first Test will take place at Perth Stadium in Perth on November 22. Shubman Gill's form with the bat in the aforementioned matches will be key for India as they look to qualify for their third successive World Test Championship final.
