Team India's wicketkeeper-batter Sanju Samson was recently seen spending some fun time with former India pacer S Sreesanth in Dubai. The Team India veteran shared a video on his official Instagram handle on Tuesday, December 10, giving fans a glimpse of their good time together.
The two have known each other for a long time, having shared the dressing room for their state team in domestic cricket for Kerala. The veteran bowler has always been a staunch supporter of Samson, and was also responsible for Sanju joining the Rajasthan Royals' in 2013 as per a Times Now report.
Captioning the post, Sreesanth had some unsurprising words to share about his domestic teammate. He captioned:
"May the blessings of God be upon you, may you continue to shine brightly and continue to make all of us proud, especially the Malayalam community, Indians, and every cricket enthusiast with your distinctive style. Keep progressing, keep radiating, and always stay inspired. The sky is not the limit!"
Sanju Samson captained Kerala in the ongoing Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy (SMAT) 2024. The side won four out of their six group-stage matches but failed to qualify for the knockouts.
Samson kicked off the campaign with an impressive 75-run knock in Kerala's opening fixture against Services off 45 balls. However, he failed to continue the same form, registering scores of 19, 4, 31, and 7 in the remaining games.
"These four wasted 10 years of my son's life" - When Sanju Samson's father lashed out at four Indian veterans for ruining his son's career
Back in November this year, a clip of Sanju Samson's father, Vishwanath's interaction with a Malayalam language television channel MediaOne had gone viral. In that show, he had strongly expressed that four Indian cricket veterans were responsible for runining his son Sanju's career.
He had said:
"There are 3-4 people who wasted 10 years of my son's vital career...captains like Dhoni ji, Virat [Kohli] ji, Rohit [Sharma] ji and coach [Rahul] Dravid ji."
However, his father also saw a silver lining to Sanju's predicament:
"These four people wasted 10 years of my son's life but the more they hurt him, the stronger Sanju came out of the crisis."
Despite making his T20I debut in 2015 against Zimbabwe, Sanju Samson hasn't hit the heights that he was once touted to. He found it difficult initially, taking 12 innings to score his first T20I half-century. Overall, he has played just 33 T20I innings, scoring 810 runs at an average of 27.93.
However he has found his scoring touch in recent games, scoring all of his three T20I centuries in his last five innings, one against Bangladesh In October and two against South Africa in November.
