The Toronto Nationals players erupted in celebration and ran onto the field as they defeated the Montreal Tigers in the summit clash of Global T20 Canada 2024 on Sunday, August 11. The game took place at the CAA Centre in Brampton, Ontario.
Andries Gous hit the winning run on the last ball of the 15th over. Gerhard Erasmus bowled a delivery on the off-stump, which the Toronto Nationals player guided to third man for a double as they won the championship for the first time.

Chasing a target of 97, the Toronto Nationals lost their openers, Colin Munro and Unmukt Chand, early. Captain Munro was dismissed for a two-ball duck while Chand scored four off five balls. Andries Gous and Rassie van der Dussen then stitched together an 85-run partnership of 78 balls to bring glory to their team.
Gous scored a brilliant half-century; he remained unbeaten on 58 off 49 balls, hitting eight boundaries. Meanwhile, Dussen scored 30* off 34 balls as Toronto won the match by eight wickets with five overs remaining.

Toronto Nationals captain Colin Munro won the toss and chose to field first. Romario Shepherd provided an early breakthrough as he dismissed Parveen Kumar (6) in the second over.
Jason Behrendorff was brilliant in the third over, dismissing Gerhard Erasmus and Tim Siefert to put the Montreal Tigers in a spot of bother.
Soon after, Behrendorff dismissed his countryman and opponent’s captain Chris Lynn. The Toronto Nationals bowlers were brilliant as the Montreal Tigers found themselves 42/7 after 9.5 overs. Corbin Bosch (35) and Jaskaran Singh (16) put up 46 runs off 48 balls for the eighth wicket as the Montreal Tigers finished at 96/9 in 20 overs.
In response, it turned out to be an easy chase for the Toronto Nationals as they won the game by eight wickets.
