Team India batting star Virat Kohli and his wife Anushka Sharma were spotted in Sydney ahead of the new year as they had seemingly attended a party. In a video surfaced on social media, both were wearing black outfits, looking sharp for the celebration.

Anushka has been accompanying her husband in Australia amid the blockbuster five-Test series Down Under. The Bollywood actress was present in the stands at the Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG) and wore a shocked expression when Kohli perished cheaply on Day 5.

The 36-year-old had also captured the spotlight when he had a fiery exchange with a few Aussie reporters at the Melbourne airport. He accused them of filming his family without his consent. Since then, the Australian media has been consistently targeting the Delhi-born cricketer.

Virat Kohli hoping to regain form in the fifth Test

The former Indian captain will be hoping to overcome his tough patch in the fifth and final Test against Australia, beginning on January 3, 2025. While Kohli scored a hundred in the opening Test in Perth, his highest score has been 36 since then.

The veteran batter's common mode of dismissal has been edging outside off deliveries behind the stumps to either the slip cordon or keeper. The tourists also went 1-2 down in the Boxing Day Test in Melbourne, losing by 184 runs on the final day after being bowled out for 155.

A draw or a loss in Sydney will mean the hosts will regain the coveted Border-Gavaskar Trophy (BGT). They will also seal their spot in the World Test Championship (WTC) final. However, a defeat for Australia will keep India alive in WTC and the Baggy Greens must win at least one Test during their Sri Lanka tour. It will also mean that India retains the BGT.

The hosts witnessed a draw in their last two Tests against India in Sydney.
