Team India star Virat Kohli and his wife Anushka Sharma were spotted walking on the streets of Melbourne ahead of the crucial fourth India-Australia Test, starting on December 26. The five-Test series is currently tied at 1-1 with the Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG) set to host the high-octane fourth Test.
Kohli has been in indifferent form for a while in Test cricket and the trend has continued in the ongoing Australian series. The 36-year-old broke out of his slump with a magnificent unbeaten century in the second innings of the first Test in Perth, helping India to a 295-run victory.
However, he struggled in the following two Tests with only 21 runs in three innings at an average of 7.
During the break between the Brisbane and Melbourne Test, Kohli was captured walking with Anushka by a fan.
Here is the video of the same:
Kohli has historically performed at his best in Tests down under, evidenced by his average of almost 51, including seven centuries in 16 outings.
However, the champion batter has been on an extended form slump with only three Test tons in 37 matches since 2020.
"Anushka has been right by my side through thick and thin" - Virat Kohli
Virat Kohli acknowledged his wife Anushka Sharma's support throughout his cricketing journey after the century in the second innings of the opening Test at Perth.
The couple married each other in December 2017 and have been blessed with a daughter and son.
Speaking to the broadcasters after his Perth century, Kohli said:
"Anushka has been right by my side through thick and thin. She knows everything that goes on behind the scene, what goes on in the head when you don't play as well, you make a few mistakes after getting yourself in. I just wanted to contribute to the team's cause, I do not want to hang around just for the sake of it, I take pride in performing for the country. Feels amazing, the fact that she is here makes it more special."
Kohli has enjoyed incredible success in Tests at Melbourne, averaging 52.66 in three matches with a century and two half-centuries.
India will also derive confidence from the fact that they've defeated Australia in their last two Test meetings in Melbourne in 2018 and 2020.
