Team India's ace batter Virat Kohli failed to make an impression in the second innings of the second Border-Gavaskar series Test at the Adelaide Oval. He was dismissed for 11 runs off 21 deliveries off Scott Boland's bowling in the third session on Day 2 (Saturday, December 7).

Kohli had a nervy stay at the crease after walking into bat at 42-2 in the ninth over of the innings. The right-handed batter was beaten by Scott Boland's sublime delivery outside the off-stump in his very first delivery at the crease. He responded with a streaky boundary and the rest of his short stay at the crease proceeded in that fashion.

The pair of Scott Boland and Pat Cummins tested Kohli by bowling in tandem, not giving the Indian batter much room to operate. The pressure finally bubbled as he nicked the third delivery of the 15th delivery as Boland got the ball to hold its line a touch. This proved to be more than enough to bring the outside edge into play.

Have a look at the dismissal right here:

India were reduced to 66-3 following the ace batter's departure. They still have a deficit to climb after conceding 337 in the first innings against their 190-run tally on Day 1.

Kohli departs without a fifty at the Adelaide for only the second time in his Test career

The former skipper's imperious record at the Adelaide Oval is quite well-documented. He recorded his maiden Test hundred at the venue in 2012 and went on to register twin hundreds at the venue, which also kickstarted his captaincy career.

Even in the infamous day-night Test in the 2020-21 tour, Kohli had scored a sublime half-century, before being run out after a major mix-up.

The ongoing Test at the iconic venue, which may well be his last outing at the venue, only resulted in 18 runs. This is his lowest combined score in a Test at the stadium. Until now, his worst outing came during the first Test in the 2018 Border-Gavaskar series, where he scored 37 runs.
