Amid constant rain interruptions and losing regular wickets, India managed to avoid the follow-on in the ongoing third Border-Gavaskar Trophy (BGT) 2024-25 Test at The Gabba on Day 4 (Tuesday, December 17). Former India captain Virat Kohli and head coach Gautam Gambhir were seen celebrating the moment in the dressing room, as the visitors avoided the follow-on during their first innings.

The moment came on the second delivery of the 75th over, bowled by Australia skipper Pat Cummins, where Akash Deep managed to collect four runs off a thick outside edge that flew over gully and reached the boundary rope. As a result, the visitors avoided the follow-on that led to Virat and Gambhir passionately celebrating the moment.

The two were seen sharing a high-five before Kohli celebrated with other teammates and Gambhir clapped in joy. On a day filled with rain interruptions and India being down and out, the moment brought immense joy. The visitors continue to fight to save the Test match.

India end Day 4 of third BGT 2024-25 Test on positive note at The Gabba

In response to Australia's solid first-innings total of 445 in the third BGT 2024-25 game at The Gabba, India were in trouble after being reduced to 213-9, with the possibility of being subjected to a follow-on as well.

However, the final pair of Jasprit Bumrah and Akash Deep saved the day for the visitors with their crucial unbeaten 39-run stand to help the visitors end the day's play on 252-9, having successfully avoided the follow-on. India trail by 193 runs, heading into the final day.

With just the final day remaining, India's chances of saving the Test now appear stronger. Constant rain breaks took away a lot of time that played into the visitors' favor, leaving Australia frustrated as they lost several overs and the Rohit Sharma-led side crossed the 246-run mark to avoid the follow-on.
