Team India stalwart Virat Kohli gave a nostalgic moment for many fans about gully cricket when he searched for the ball beyond the boundary line during the 2024 World Cup match against Bangladesh on Saturday (June 22). The Sir Vivian Richards Stadium in North Sound, Antigua, hosted this Super 8 clash.

The interesting moment transpired during the second innings of the match after Bangladesh batter Rishad Hossain hit a six over the deep mid-wicket region at the end of the 17th over. Kohli went over the hoardings in pursuit of the ball beyond the boundary line. While searching, Kohli crawled through the bottom of a podium and found the ball.

India beat Bangladesh comprehensively by 50 runs in the Super 8 clash of the 2024 T20 World Cup

Team India batted first in the match after losing the toss and scored 196/5 in 20 overs. The batting unit performed collectively to help their side notch up a daunting total. Hardik Pandya top-scored with an unbeaten 27-ball half-century.

Kuldeep Yadav (3/19), Jasprit Bumrah (2/13), and Arshdeep Singh (2/30) then bowled wonderfully to restrict Bangladesh to 146 and helped their side win the match by 50 runs. With two successive wins, India are now closer to clinching a semi-final spot, while Bangladesh are on the verge of elimination after two losses.

At the post-match presentation, Indian captain Rohit Sharma reviewed his team's performance and said:

"Considering everything, I think we adapted well. There is a little bit of here, you need to take into account and then you know be smart in how you want to choose that options, so I thought or all we were very smart with the bat and then we use the conditions really well with the ball as well. so overall was a great effort from the team."

He continued:

"The top order laid the platform and then Hardik being Hardik, with the what is capable of today was a perfect example of what you can do with that, again very crucial important for us. You know that is very goes to back and if we can keep doing that will be in good positions. You talk about a lot of things of the field, but eventually going out there and doing it, it is another different thing."

India will next face Australia on Monday (June 24) at the Daren Sammy National Cricket Stadium in Gros Islet, St Lucia.
