Team India stalwart Virat Kohli was recently spotted at the Mumbai Airport ahead of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy Test series against Australia Down Under. He was last in action during the Test series against New Zealand earlier this month, where India suffered a humbling 3-0 clean sweep series loss.

Virat Kohli did not have a good series personally with the bat either. He scored only 93 runs in six innings at an average of 15.50 while plying his trade in the middle order. Most of the other batters in the Indian batting line-up also struggled to score runs on the turning tracks during the series. Indian cricket fans are optimistic about Virat Kohli's return to form in the upcoming Australia tour, considering his magnificent record in the country.

An X user shared a couple of videos on Saturday (November 9) to give the latest glimpse of Virat Kohli at Mumbai Airport, possibly traveling to Australia for the Test series. In them, Kohli was posing for pictures with his fans and then walking into the Airport.

"That didn't seem right to me"- Ricky Ponting on Virat Kohli's dismal Test record over the past five years

Ahead of the BGT 2024 series, former Australian captain Ricky Ponting analyzed Virat Kohli's batting performances in Tests over the past few years and expressed concern with his low returns. He opined that any other top-order player would not have held onto a place in the XI after such a lean patch. On the latest episode of ICC Review, Ponting said:

"I saw a stat the other day about Virat, it said he's only scored two (three) Test hundreds in the last five years. That didn't seem right to me, but if that is right, then that is, I mean, that's a concern.
"There wouldn't be anyone else probably even playing international cricket as a top-order batsman that's only scored two Test match hundreds in five years. I've said it before about Virat, you don't ever question the greats of the game."

Ponting continued:

"There's no doubt, he's a great of the game. He loves playing against Australia. In fact, I know he loves playing against Australia. And as I said, his record (in Australia) is very good. If there's a time for him to turn it around, it'd be this series. So I wouldn't be surprised to see Virat make runs in the first game."
