Australian skipper Pat Cummins struck early on Day 3 (Sunday, January 5) to dismiss Team India all-rounders Ravindra Jadeja and Washington Sundar in the fifth Border Gavaskar Trophy 2024-25 Test. The Sydney Cricket Ground is hosting the series finale, with the hosts leading 2-1.
Jadeja and Sundar were India's overnight batters. The former was a bit defensive in his approach, blocking out deliveries and managing only 8 off 39 balls, with Sundar just starting his knock later in the last session on Day 2. Earlier in the session, Jadeja managed to get a boundary and a few singles under his belt.
On the fourth delivery of the 34th over, Cummins managed to fox Jadeja to get the leading edge of his bat. The ball went straight into the hands of wicketkeeper Alex Carey, who held onto the catch and helped Australia pick up their seventh wicket.

A couple of overs later, Pat Cummins was back in action yet again. The Australian skipper managed to shape the ball back into Sundar, who was beaten through the gate and lost his off stump, being dismissed for 12 runs.

Australia begin their chase of 162 to win the fifth BGT 2024-25 Test and seal the series
Australia managed to bundle out India for 157 in 39.5 overs, having a target of 162 to chase on the board. Yashasvi Jaiswal (22 off 35) started well, hitting four boundaries in the first over but things tapered off for the hosts later, with the wickets falling at regular intervals.
A major contribution from Rishabh Pant (61 off 33) has allowed the visitors to stay afloat and post a sizeable total.
Australia have made a good start to the chase, having a big over to start things off. They have scored 26 runs in two overs, needing 136 more runs to win.
