Former New Zealand captain Kane Williamson enjoyed a Coldplay concert with reigning skipper Tom Latham after a historic Test series win in India. While Williamson missed the series due to a groin injury, Latham guided his team to a famous 3-0 series whitewash. The victory has kept the Kiwis, inaugural champions, alive in the race to the ICC World Test Championship (WTC) final.
The social media post comes ahead of Williamson’s comeback for the home Test series against England. The 34-year-old is on the verge of completing 1,000 runs against England in Tests. He has amassed 995 runs in 16 Tests (29 innings) against the Englishmen. He has already scored over 1,000 runs against Pakistan (1,519), South Africa (1,068), and Sri Lanka (1,467).
Williamson shared the video on Instagram and captioned the post:
“What a gig! #coldplay.”

Coldplay is a British rock band since 1997, comprising Chris Martin, Jonny Buckland, Guy Berryman, Will Champion, and Phil Harvey. The band is currently undergoing a World Tour. Australia’s World Cup-winning captain Pat Cummins was recently seen enjoying a Coldplay concert with his wife Becky Boston. That came as he was rested for the third and final ODI against Pakistan.
“We're happy with having him ready” – Gary Stead on Kane Williamson’s availability for England Tests
New Zealand's head coach Gary Stead has expressed his delight to have Kane Williamson return to the side for the Test series against England. He said (via ESPNcricinfo):
“We're happy with having him ready and very, very confident he'll be right for that first Test versus England."
Stead was disappointed as Williamson missed the Test series in India, adding:
“Look, it's always disappointing when he's not over here with us. I mean, he's New Zealand's greatest Test run-scorer for a reason, and I think whenever you have Kane Williamson in your side, it looks a stronger side. But the guys have gone really well.”
Stead also shared his optimism as the Kiwis are in the fray for a place in the WTC final.
“Well, we've done it before, here's an opportunity to perhaps do something very special again,” he said.
The first Test of the three-match series will begin in Christchurch on November 28. The action will shift to Wellington and Hamilton for the remaining two matches.
