Former England Graham Thorpe died under tragic circumstances after being hit by a train at Esher railway station in Surrey on August 4. The former cricketer's family confirmed that the renowned batting star took his own life. In a shocking coincidence, Thorpe had referred to being 'hit by a train' in an interview in 2022.
The late cricketer was the assistant (batting) coach of the England side at that time. Speaking after Day 4 of the 2021-22 Ashes Test at the Sydney Cricket Ground (SCG), Thorpe shared his views on England's struggles in the series.
During the interview given to David Gower on BT Sport, he backed the England players to fight back from a tough situation and commented:
"As you know, if you get hit by a train occasionally, you really do wake up and you see what level of toughness you require, but also what skill level you require against a very good Australian bowling attack in their own backyard as well."
