Fast bowler Siddarth Kaul announced retirement from all formats of cricket earlier today. The right-arm pacer was a part of India's squad that won the 2008 U-19 World Cup under Virat Kohli's leadership in Malaysia.

In fact, Kaul was the hero for the Indian U-19 team in the final against South Africa U-19s. Kinrara Academy Oval of Kuala Lumpur played host to the U-19 World Cup 2008 Final, where India were bowled out for 159 in the first innings.

South Africa U-19s received a 116-run target in 25 overs under D/L method. Siddarth Kaul bowled five overs and returned with figures of 2/26, dismissing opposition captain Wayne Parnell and wicketkeeper Bradley Barnes.

Captain Virat Kohli entrusted Kaul with the responsibility to bowl the final over of the match, with South Africa U-19s needing 19 to win. Both Parnell and Barnes were well-set in the middle. When Barnes hit a four on the first ball, it seemed like the Proteas would pull off a win.

However, Kaul bowled a dot ball next and then conceded just one run off the third ball, bringing the equation down to 14 off three balls. While Kaul bowled a full toss on the fourth ball, Parnell ended up handing a catch to Manish Pandey at square leg. The fifth ball resulted in a single, while Barnes lost his stumps on the last ball as India won the match by 12 runs and became U-19 world champions.

Siddarth Kaul made his T20I debut under Virat Kohli's captaincy in 2018

10 years after winning the U-19 World Cup under Virat Kohli's captaincy, Siddarth Kaul received his maiden T20I cap under the same skipper. It was against Ireland on June 29, 2018. Kaul opened the bowling for India and bowled a fine spell of 1/4 in two overs, dismissing James Shannon.

In total, Kaul played three T20Is for India, scalping four wickets. His last T20I appearance was against Australia on February 27, 2019, at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium.
