Team India's opening batter Yashasvi Jaiswal was dismissed on the very first ball of the side's ongoing second Test of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy (BGT) series against Australia on Friday, December 6. The southpaw bagged a golden duck as Mitchell Starc drew first blood for the hosts in the pink ball Test in Adelaide.
Starc dished out a full-length delivery first up. Jaiswal attempted to play the flick but was undone by the late movement. The ball crashed into the front pad and the on-field umpire adjudged it out.
Jaiswal decided not to take the review and walked back to the pavilion without opening his account. You can watch a video of the dismissal below:
It is worth mentioning that Jaiswal was one of the key architects in Indi's 295-run victory in the BGT 2024-25 series opener in Perth. The talented youngster played a stellar 161-run knock in India's second innings.
However, Jaiswal failed to make a significant impact in the first innings of the Adelaide Test. The 22-year-old now has two ducks to his name from three Test innings on Australian soil, both courtesy of Starc.
"It’s coming too slow" - Yashasvi Jaiswal sledged Mitchell Starc on Day 2 of Perth Test
Yashasvi Jaiswal resorted to psychological warfare against Mitchell Starc during India's second innings of the Perth Test. The dynamic batter sledged the veteran seamer by suggesting that he was bowling 'too slow'.
His sledge came after Starc reminded Indian pacer Harshit Rana that he bowls faster than him. Jaiswal can be heard saying:
"It’s coming too slow."
Meanwhile, India won the toss and chose to bat first in the pink ball Test against Australia. Here are the playing XIs for the Adelaide Test:
