Having taken a 1-0 lead in the five-match Border-Gavaskar Trophy, India will look to continue their momentum in the pink-ball Test in Adelaide, which begins on Friday, December 6. The visitors registered a 295-run triumph in Perth, making a superb comeback after being bowled out for 150 in the first innings.

Seasoned pacer Jasprit Bumrah captained Team India in Rohit Sharma's absence in the opening Test in Perth. He led from the front, claiming five wickets in the first innings and three in the second. Rohit is back to lead the side in the second Test in Adelaide, a venue where the Aussies have never lost a pink-ball Test.

If we look at Rohit's record in day-night Tests, he has played three matches in which he has scored 173 runs at an average of 43.25. The 37-year-old's first pink-ball Test was against Bangladesh at the Eden Gardens in Kolkata in November 2019. The opener was dismissed for 21 in the first innings, trapped lbw by Ebadot Hossain. India won the game by an innings and 46 runs.

Rohit's second pink-ball Test was against England in Ahmedabad in February 2021. He was the only Indian batter to score a half-century in the two-day contest which India won by 10 wickets. After England were bowled out for 112, Rohit's 66 took India to 145. The opener scored an unbeaten 25 in the second innings as the hosts chased down a small target of 49 runs.

The Indian captain was also part of the pink-ball Test against Sri Lanka at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru in March 2022. He was out for 15 in the first innings, dismissed by Lasith Embuldeniya. In the second essay, he scored 46 off 79 balls. Rohit holed out to long-on off Dhananjaya de Silva's bowling. India went on to win this Test by a comprehensive margin of 238 runs.

Rohit will be desperate to get back among the runs in the pink-ball Test

While India are 1-0 up in the five-match series against Australia, their skipper will be under pressure to deliver. The right-handed batter had a forgettable series against New Zealand at home, managing less than 100 runs in six innings. To make matters worse, India were trounced 3-0 in the three-match series.

Rohit also does not possess an impressive record in Tests Down Under. In 14 innings in Australia, he has scored 408 runs at an average of 31.38, with three half-centuries and a best of 63*.
