Team India went down to Australia by 184 runs in the fourth Test of the 2024-25 Border-Gavaskar Trophy (BGT) at the Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG) on Monday, December 30. With the triumph, the Aussies took a 2-1 lead in the five-match series, making a strong comeback after losing the opening Test in Perth.

Australia resumed their second innings on Day 5 at 228-9. Jasprit Bumrah bowled Nathan Lyon for his overnight score of 41 to complete yet another five-wicket haul in Test cricket and take his tally in BGT 2024-25 to 30 scalps. Mohammed Siraj also provided him able support to finish with 3-70.

Chasing 340, India came up with a disappointing batting effort to be bowled out for 155 in 79.1 overs. Opener Yashasvi Jaiswal top-scored with 84, while Rishabh Pant contributed 30. However, all the other batters perished for single figure scores, with skipper Rohit Sharma (9) and Virat Kohli (5) disappointing yet again.
