Quinton de Kock has been left out of Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) playing XI for their last Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 league game against Mumbai Indians (MI) at Wankhede Stadium on Friday (May 17). Devdutt Padikkal has come in and will open alongside captain KL Rahul.
De Kock failed to stay consistent for the Super Giants this season. The 31-year-old departed for just 12 runs against Delhi Capitals in his last game on May 14.
Notably, the South African wicketkeeper-batter was retained for INR 6.75 crore for the 2024 season. He scored 250 runs in 11 matches at a strike rate of 134.41, including three half-centuries.
At the toss, skipper Rahul said:
"Quinton misses out, Devdutt comes in."
On the other hand, Dedvutt Padikkal has had a forgetful season, scoring 38 runs in six matches at a strike rate of 73.08. The left-hander will look to finish off the season on a bright note.

Among other notable changes, Matt Henry and Ayush Badoni replaced Yudhvir Singh and Naveen-ul-Haq in the playing XI. Naveen, though, has been included among the impact substitutes.
MI win toss and opt to bowl against LSG in last IPL 2024 match
MI captain Hardik Pandya won the toss and chose to bowl against LSG in IPL on Friday. The hosts made a couple of changes as Arjun Tendulkar and Dewald Brevis replaced Jasprit Bumrah and injured Tilak Varma in the playing XI. Romario Shepherd came in for Tim David.
Pandya said at the toss:
"We're going to bowl. Chasing is better in Wankhede. It comes on nicer in the evening."
For the unversed, bottom-placed Mumbai have four wins in 13 games and they are eliminated from the playoff race. Meanwhile, Lucknow are seventh in the points table with six wins in 13 games. They can reach a maximum of 14 points but will have to depend on other results and net run-rate (NRR) to qualify for playoffs.
The Super Giants beat MI by four wickets when the two teams last faced off in Lucknow on April 30.
