Shakib Al Hasan has reached Dhaka.

Bangladesh captain Shakib Al Hasan has returned home in the middle of the 2023 World Cup. The Bangladesh skipper reached Dhaka earlier today (October 25) for a short training stint with his personal mentor Nazmul Abedeen Faheem.

According to a report by ESPNCricinfo, all other members of the Bangladesh team have landed in Kolkata for their next match against the Netherlands on Saturday afternoon (October 28). However, captain Shakib Al Hasan traveled to Dhaka.

Shakib captained Bangladesh in a league-round match against South Africa at the Wankhede Stadium yesterday (October 24), where the Proteas won by 149 runs. Bangladesh's overall performance has not been up to the mark in the 2023 World Cup.

Even Shakib's individual performance has not been the best. Hence, the skipper decided to utilize the short break to the fullest and return to the 2023 World Cup with a better mindset. He went to Dhaka's Shere Bangla National Stadium with his mentor today and faced throwdowns in the nets for close to three hours.

"We will be training for 3 days" - Shakib Al Hasan's mentor opens up on his plan

Shakib Al Hasan, who had a dream outing with the bat in the 2019 World Cup, has managed only 56 runs in four matches of this year's mega event so far. The Bangladesh captain has thus returned home to focus on his training for three days.

"He arrived today. We will be training for three days," his mentor Faheem told ESPNcricinfo. "Today, tomorrow and day after, and then he will return to Kolkata. We worked on his batting today."
"Shakib probably feels comfortable working this way. I am not sure what we are going to do next - I will take each session as he wants," Faheem added.

Bangladesh will play their next two matches in Kolkata. After playing against the Netherlands on Saturday, they will take on Pakistan on Tuesday (October 31).
