Former Indian cricketer Yuvraj Singh's father, Yograj Singh, has made yet another controversial statement, this time about women. Yuvraj's father is known for making controversial statements and has drawn severe criticism for them in the past.
In a recent interview on Unfiltered with Samdish podcast, he made a controversial comment on women. He stated that women should not be given power. Citing the example of Indira Gandhi, Yograj said that wives will destroy houses if they are given power.
“Wife will destroy your house if you give her power. Sorry to say, Indira Gandhi ran this country and destroyed it. Give them respect and love, but never give them power," he said.
In the same podcast, Yograj Singh had also made a rather baffling comment on his son Yuvraj Singh. Yograj said that he would have been a proud father had Yuvraj died from cancer and had India then won the 2011 ODI World Cup.
Yograj Singh takes personal dig at former World Cup winning captain Kapil Dev
Yograj Singh has made controversial statements regarding former Indian World Cup winning captain Kapil Dev in the past as well.
Yograj took a personal dig at Kapil Dev in the aforementioned interview as well, taunting him for his inability to have a son like Yuvraj Singh. He claimed that Kapil was jealous of Yuvraj's success and was affected by his son's achievement during the 2011 ODI World Cup.
“In 2011, when India won the World Cup, Kapil was the only one crying. I sent him a paper cutting, saying my son did better than you in the World Cup,” he said.
Yograj has already received criticism on social media for his comments. He has once again made controversial remarks on women and a former Indian cricketer, who is widely respected. While Kapil Dev is yet to respond to these comments, they could trigger outrage once again.
