Adelaide Strikers secured a thrilling win against Melbourne Stars by four wickets in the eighth game of the Women's Big Bash League 2023 at Junction Oval in Melbourne. Meanwhile, in the ninth game, Brisbane Heat bagged a three-wicket win over Sydney Sixers at North Sydney Oval in Sydney.

The Stars won the toss and opted to bat first, making 133-6 in their allotted 20 overs on a slow and sluggish wicket. Maia Boucher was the top-scorer of Stars with 48 off 38 with six fours and s six.

Alice Capsey gave substantial support with her 25-run knockoff of 26 balls with one four and a six. However, other batters faltered for the Stars. Pacer Megan Schutt was the star bowler for Strikers with two wickets.

In response, Adelaide lost their star opener Laura Wolvaardt for just two runs. However, Katie Mack steadied the ship on one end, scoring 48 off 40 with six fours.

She received good support from Bridget Patterson (27 off 24) and Madeline Penna (28* off 28) as they sealed the deal in 19.4 overs. Alice Capsey and Sophia Dunkley were the star bowlers for Stars with two wickets apiece, but their efforts went in vain.

Meanwhile, in the ninth game, the Sixers batted first after losing the toss and made 146-8 in their allotted 20 overs, thanks to captain Ellyse Perry's 49-run knock off 30.

Perry received good support from middle-order batter Chloe Tryon, who scored 42 off 33. Nicola Hancock, Jess Jonassen and Courtney Sippel bagged two wickets apiece for the Heat.

In response, Ashleigh Gardner, Lauren Cheatle and Maitlan Brown looked intimidating with the ball, scalping two wickets apiece. However, with the target not much dominating, Brisbane sealed the deal with six deliveries to spare.

Grace Harris, the Heat opener, continued her good momentum, scoring a 39-run knock off 19, with four fours and three sixes. No. 3 batter Georgia Voll contributed 39 off 38.

Brisbane Heat opener Grace Harris is leading the Women's Big Bash league runscoring charts with 224 runs from three innings at an average of 112. Adelaide Strikers opening batter Katie Mack is second with 137 runs at an average of 45.66.

Perth Scorchers all-rounder Sophie Devine is third with 101 runs in two innings. Sydney Sixers all-rounder Ashleigh Gardner is next with 85 runs.

Sixers captain Ellyse Perry smacked 80 runs in two innings to occupy the fifth position.

Brisbane Heat medium pacer Courtney Sippel bagged two wickets against Sixers to move atop the Women's Big Bash League bowling charts with six wickets. She's closely followed by Sixers left-arm pacer Lauren Cheatle, who also has six wickets.

Hayley Matthews, the Renegades spinner, has five scalps in two innings to occupy the third spot.

Sixers vice-captain Ashleigh Gardner bagged two wickets against Heat and is fourth in the wicket charts with five wickets. Adelaide Strikers pacer Megan Schutt is fifth with five wickets.
