The Women's T20 World Cup 2024 kicked off with a thrilling match between Bangladesh and Scotland at the Sharjah Cricket Stadium on Thursday, October 3, that saw the Asian side clinch a 16-run win. With the sun shining down on the field, Bangladesh's captain Nigar Sultana opted to bat first, hoping to set a challenging target.
The Bangladeshi innings got off to a slow start, facing pressure from the Scottish bowling attack. Opener Shathi Rani provided some stability to the innings, scoring 29 runs off 32 balls.
The highlight of the innings came from Sobhana Mostary, who top-scored for Bangladesh with 36 runs off 38 balls. While Nigar Sultana contributed with a run-a-ball 18, it was Fahima Khatun who provided the late fireworks with a quick 10 runs off just five balls.
Ultimately, Bangladesh posted a total of 119 runs for the loss of seven wickets.

However, they fell short, losing the match by 16 runs. On the bowling side, Ritu Moni was impressive for Bangladesh, taking two wickets, while Fahima Khatun, Rabeya Khan, Nahida Akter, and Marufa Akter claimed one wicket each.

Meanwhile, Sobhana Mostary is placed second with 36 runs under her belt, followed by opener Shathi Rani (29) and Bangladesh skipper Nigar Sultana (18).
