Netherlands beat Scotland by three wickets in Match No.2 of the Women’s Tri-series on Thursday, August 8 at the VRA Cricket Ground in Amstelveen. With the win, the Dutch moved to the top of the table with four points and a net run rate of +0.960 thanks to wins in both their matches until now.

Scotland, on the other hand, dropped to second in the table with two points and a net run rate of +0.222. They started with a 62-run win over Papua New Guinea (PNG) before losing to the Netherlands. PNG stayed at the bottom with a net run rate of -1.229 after losses in both their matches.

After opting to bat first, Scotland struggled to find their feet and were bowled out for 180 in 41.1 overs. Darcey Carter was their star batter after she scored 86 runs off 110 balls with eight fours. Lorna Jack made 34 runs, but apart from her and Carter, none of the Scottish got the measure of the opposition bowling.

Iris Zwilling was stupendous for the Netherlands after she finished with figures of 8.1-1-31-4. She accounted for the wickets of Saskia Horkey, Carter, Jack, and Olivia Bell. Caroline de Lange and Silver Siegers picked up two wickets apiece.

The Dutch struggled a bit in their run-chase but got over the finish line with 56 balls left in their innings. Babette de Leede and Phebe Molkenboer laid the platform for them with a 49-run stand for the opening wicket, but they lost wickets at regular intervals.

At one point in time, they were reduced to 141 for seven in 33.3 overs. But then, De Lange and Eva Lynch put on an unbeaten partnership of 40 runs for the eighth wicket. Leg-spinner Abtaha Maqsood picked up three wickets for 35 runs.
