In a blockbuster encounter, India took on Pakistan in the final of the World Championship of Legends 2024 on Saturday, July 13. A collective bowling performance from India helped them restrict Pakistan to 156 runs in the first innings.
The Pakistan top-three batters got starts but failed to convert them into big scores. They had lost four wickets for 79 runs inside 12 overs. However, a crucial knock of 41 off 36 balls from Shoaib Malik helped the team reach a competitive score on the board.
As for Indian bowling, Anureet Singh returned with three wickets, while the likes of Vinay Kumar, Negi, and Irfan Pathan picked one wicket each. In reply, Ambati Rayudu gave the team a strong start with a 50-run knock of 30 balls. Gurkeerat Singh Mann also played a handy knock of 34 off 33 balls.
Pakistan kept chipping in with wickets and the match went to the last over. However, valuable contributions from Yusuf Pathan (30 off 16) and Yuvraj Singh (15 off 22) helped the team chase down the target in the final over.
World Championship of Legends 2024 Most Runs List
Shoaib Malik finished the tournament as the highest run-getter with 245 runs in seven matches. Ian Bell is at second spot with 230 runs, followed by Robin Uthappa with 225 runs. Yusuf Pathan climbed to the fourth spot with 221 runs. At number five is Sharjeel Khan with 221 runs, while Ben Dunk finds himself at sixth with 220 runs.
Daniel Christian occupies the seventh spot with 215 runs, followed by Sohaib Maqsood with 204 runs in the eighth. Aaron Finch (203) and Dwayne Smith (202), meanwhile, take the number ninth and 10th spots respectively.
World Championship of Legends 2024 Most Wickets List
Nathan Coulter-Nile finished with the most wickets with nine wickets to his name. Brett Lee found himself in the second spot with nine wickets, while Wahab Riaz finished at number three with nine wickets.
Shoaib Malik (9) and Peter Siddle (8) hold the fourth and fifth spots, respectively. Dhawal Kulkarni occupies the sixth spot with eight wickets, while Harbhajan Singh finished in the seventh spot with eight wickets.
Chris Schofield (7) and Sohail Khan (7) hold eighth and ninth spots, respectively. Xavierty Doherty rounded off the top 10 spots with seven wickets to his name.
