On Wednesday, July 3, England Champions and India Champions squared off in the inaugural match of the World Championship of Legends 2024. Australia Champions and Pakistan Champions met in the tournament's second match later on.
India registered their maiden victory over England by three wickets and secured the top spot with a net run rate of +0.487. Pakistan beat Australia in their season-opener by five wickets. They occupy the second spot with an NRR of +0.262.
West Indies and South Africa, who will play their first games on Thursday, July 4, are ranked third and fourth respectively, for now. Australia and England sit at the bottom of the table, eyeing for their first win in their upcoming games.

Robin Uthappa shines for India, Younis Khan excels for Pakistan
India Champs won the toss and opted to bowl first against England Champs. England managed 165/4 in 20 overs, thanks to Ian Bell’s 44-ball 59* and Samit Patel's 51 off 25. Harbhajan Singh finished with two wickets while Vinay Kumar and Dhawal Kulkarni took one each.
In reply, Robin Uthappa (50) and Naman Ojha (25) stitched a 62-run opening partnership. Later, Gurkeerat Singh Mann scored a quick-fire 33 off 17 balls, featuring three boundaries and two sixes, which helped them achieve the target in 19 overs.
Pakistan Champions defeated Australia Champions in the following game. Bowling first, they restricted Australia to 189/7 with Shahid Afridi and Shoaib Malik taking two wickets each. Aaron Finch smashed 68 runs for his side while Ben Dunk (27), Callum Ferguson (26*), and Nathan Coulter-Nile (25 off 10) also made important contributions with the bat.
In reply, Pakistan lost three wickets within the powerplay. However, skipper Younis Khan scored a match-winning 41-ball 63, featuring four boundaries and two sixes. Khan was backed by Misbah-ul-Haq’s unbeaten 46 off 30 and Afridi’s quick 11-run cameo off five balls.
Australian skipper Brett Lee and Coulter-Nile chipped in two wickets each while Xavier Doherty picked up one.
