Australia's campaign in the 2024 T20 World Cup concluded on Monday (June 24) after they finished third in the points table of group 1 in the Super 8 phase. They began well in the tournament by winning all four games and topping the Group B points table in the league stage. The Mitchell Marsh-led side then beat Bangladesh comfortably in their opening match of Super 8.

However, their fortunes changed dramatically after that, as they suffered dismal losses against Afghanistan and India in consecutive games. Australia were then dependent on Bangladesh to bail them out by beating Afghanistan in the final Super 8 match to reach the semi-finals. It didn't turn out well for the Aussies, though. Afghanistan edged out Bangladesh in a thrilling contest to go north to the second spot in the points table and seal the semis spot.

Fans took note of Australia's exit from the tournament before the semi-finals and expressed their reaction on the matter by sharing hilarious memes on X. Here are some of the best memes:

"There might be a couple of changes"- Josh Hazlewood on Australian squad ahead of next T20 World Cup

Aussie pacer Josh Hazlewood recently said that there might not be any drastic changes to their squad for the next T20 World Cup after two years. He opined that most of the players from the current lot will carry on. At the post-match presser after the loss against India, Hazlewood was quoted as saying by Fox Sports:

"They come around pretty quick, the T20 World Cups, every two years. There might be a couple of changes, but a lot of the guys still play in the franchise cricket if they’re not playing for Australia, so they’re available to be picked.
"There’s some class players in our 15, and we’ve got a couple on the bench as well. So, you’d think it’d be an actual slow change. I don’t think there’d be anything drastic."

On his team's poor fielding efforts during the tournament, Hazlewood added:

"It hasn't been good enough. I'm not sure what you can put it down to. The guys are always working as hard as ever on their fielding at training but there might not be as many opportunities to work on it at these tournaments. You're always travelling and playing. But it hasn't been good enough for the last few games in particular."
