Zimbabwe cricket have named their ODI and T20I squads for the upcoming series against Pakistan, beginning on Sunday, November 24. Craig Ervine will lead the 50-overs side, while Sikandar Raza will be the captain in T20Is.
The selectors have included three uncapped players in Trevor Gwandu, Tashinga Musekiwa, and Tinotenda Maposa, who will hope to showcase their prowess at the highest level. Gwandu, the right-arm seamer, has played six T20Is since his debut in 2023, but is yet to play ODI cricket. Musekiwa is also uncapped in ODIs, while Maposa hasn't played in any format for the national team.
With the selectors retaining the same squad that had a successful run in the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026 sub-regional qualifier in Kenya, Zimbabwe's Convener of Selectors David Mutendra addressed the decision to not go for Craig Ervine, Sean Williams, and Joylord Gumbie. He said, as quoted by ICC:
"We felt it was essential to maintain the same T20I squad that excelled in Kenya. This continuity allows the team to build on the cohesion and confidence that drove their outstanding performance."
ODI squad: Craig Ervine (Captain), Faraz Akram, Brian Bennett, Joylord Gumbie, Trevor Gwandu, Clive Madande, Tinotenda Maposa, Tadiwanashe Marumani, Brandon Mavuta, Tashinga Musekiwa, Blessing Muzarabani, Dion Myers, Richard Ngarava, Sikandar Raza, Sean Williams.
T20I squad: Sikandar Raza (Captain), Faraz Akram, Brian Bennett, Ryan Burl, Trevor Gwandu, Clive Madande, Wessly Madhevere, Tinotenda Maposa, Tadiwanashe Marumani, Wellington Masakadza, Brandon Mavuta, Tashinga Musekiwa, Blessing Muzarabani, Dion Myers, Richard Ngarava.
"Facing a high-calibre side like Pakistan is a tremendous opportunity for us to gauge our progress" - Zimbabwe selector
Mutendra believes the squad they have picked for both formats will ensure that the hosts are competitive against a high-calibre side like Pakistan. He stated:
"The series against Pakistan is an important platform for Zimbabwe, and we believe the ODI squad we have selected is well-rounded. Facing a high-calibre side like Pakistan is a tremendous opportunity for us to gauge our progress and showcase Zimbabwe’s potential on the international stage. We are confident that both our ODI and T20I squads will be competitive.”
Bulawayo will host all six matches against Pakistan.
