Vijay Shankar had never batted in an international match until now. He walked in when the required rate was touching 10. He started off well but somehow lost his way in the heat of a high-pressure final.

He had an ordinary outing with the bat and struggled to connect when the pressure was on. He went for the glory shot once too often and struggled for timing. This experience would have taught him a lot though. He must learn that on days when you are struggling, the non-striker's end is the best place to be. Rotating the strike is the easiest way to release the tension in pressure situations.
