Dinesh Karthik walked in with India requiring 34 off the last two overs. He had no option but to go for boundaries. He seemed focused and lofted Rubel high into the night sky off his very first ball. He scored 22 runs off that over but his finest act was to come in the last over.

India required 5 off the last ball. Karthik was facing the part-time medium pacer Soumya Sarkar. He bowled a wide ball which Karthik nailed over extra cover to send the crowd and the Indian camp into delirium. For Karthik, a man who debuted before MS Dhoni, it was a moment of redemption.
