Having been the spearhead of the Mumbai Indians bowling attack from 2008 to 2017, he took over the role of a mentor for Mumbai Indians last season. However, Malinga has decided to take part in this year's auction.

Having a long relationship with Malinga, the Mumbai Indians might try to get their experienced campaigner back at the Wankhede Stadium for the 2019 IPL. His bowling partnership with Jasprit Bumrah has proved to be a boon for Mumbai Indians in the past.

Chennai Super Kings - Mohit Sharma

Mohit Sharma has evolved quite well in this tournament in the past couple of seasons. He has developed a variety of slower deliveries capable of troubling the batsmen. Mohit also has in his armoury a suitable yorker to bowl in the death overs.

Having been part of the Chennai Super Kings before, the coaching staff is well familiar with him. The Indian seamers especially Shardul Thakur and Deepak Chahar, have leaked a lot of runs last season in the death overs. Hence, Mohit Sharma could resolve this problem for them at the auction.
