At the start of the season, Vinay Kumar was expected to lead the Indian pace contingent of Kolkata Knight Riders. But he was dropped for young Indian pacers after his abysmal performances in the first two matches.

In the only two matches that he played for KKR, he gave away as many as 65 runs in just 3.5 overs. Even though he took two wickets, his economy rate of 16.95 was not widely apprectiated.

With young pacers like Prasidh Krishna and Shivam Mavi performing well for the Kolkata based franchise, Vinay Kumar might sit out even for the next season.
