Sri Lanka had their phase of transition after 2015 World Cup where stalwarts like Kumar Sangakkara, Mahela Jayawardene, Tillakaratne Dilshan decided to call it a day and ever since that SL has continued to struggle in all 3 formats of the game. While their bowling attack is still pretty good.

The team is in a dear need of a leader more than a captain who can not only score runs but also lifts the game of his teammates. Who better than King Kohli is more suited for this job. It is ironical given that Virat has enjoyed massive success against the Lankans. Virat is the probably the greatest player of this generation and he can be the leader who can drive them to the coveted prize this time around.
