Touted as India's version of Mustafizur Rahman, Thangarasu Natarajan was bought by Kings XI Punjab at a mammoth price of INR 3 crores for IPL 2017 after his sparkling performances in the domestic circuit. In IPL 2017, he featured in 6 games and could pick up just 2 wickets at an economy rate of almost 10. He was released by Kings XI Punjab for the 2018 IPL auction.

Sunrisers Hyderabad picked him up at a price of INR 40 lakhs for IPL 2018. But, he could not appear in a single game in the presence of Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Siddarth Kaul and Basil Thampi in the squad. He was not in good touch for his state team in the recently concluded Vijay Hazare Trophy. Sunrisers Hyderabad should release him and look to buy an in-form domestic pacer like Rajneesh Gurbani.
