Phillip Dean Salt is a Welsh cricketer representing the England cricket team in limited overs. He is primarily a wicketkeeper-batter opening the score for his team.Born in Wales but raised in Barbados, Salt shifted his focus from football to cricket, inspired by the Caribbean’s cricket culture. A scholarship to Surrey’s Reed School led him to Sussex’s academy, where he made his first-team debut in 2015 and began making his mark in 2018 with explosive performances.

In the 2018 Blast, Salt’s strike rate of 172 propelled Sussex to the final, and his powerful hitting caught the eye of T20 teams globally, including Lahore Qalandars and Islamabad United in the PSL. Consistent performances followed in 2019 with two more Championship hundreds and a strong One-Day Cup showing. His reputation continued to grow with stints in the CPL and BBL under coach Jason Gillespie.

Despite missing opportunities with England, Salt’s potential led him to sign with Lancashire in 2021 after an impactful season with Manchester Originals in the Hundred, filling Alex Davies' spot.
