To score a century in all the three formats (Test,ODI,T20), a batsman need to be multi-talented. He has to play defensively as well as aggressively. Only six players in the world have achieved this feat. Let’s take a look through these players.
Chris Gayle made his International debut in 16 March 2000. He made his first ODI century against Kenya in 2001; he scored 152 in that match. Later in 2001, he scored his first test century against Zimbabwe; he scored 175 in that match. In 2007, he scored his first T20 century against South Africa; he scored 117 in that match and became the first player to score century in all the three formats.
Brendon McCullum
Brendon McCullum made his International debut in 2003. He made his first test century against Bangladesh in 2004; he scored 144 in that match. He made his first ODI century against Ireland; he scored 166 in that match. In 2010, he became the second player to score a century in all the three formats; he achieved these feat by scoring 116* against Australia.
Mahela Jayawardene made his International debut in August 1997. He made his first test century against New Zealand on 3 June 1998; he scored 167 in that match. He made his first ODI century against England; he scored 120 in that match. On 3rd May 2010, he scored his first T20 century against Zimbabwe; he scored 100 in that match becoming the third player to score century in all the three formats of cricket.
Suresh Raina made his International debut against Sri Lanka in 2005. He made his first ODI century against Hong Kong; he scored 101 in that match. He scored his first T20 century against South Africa on 2nd May 2010; he scored 101 in that match. On 2 July 2010 Raina scored his first test century against Sri Lanka; he scored 120 in that match becoming the fourth player to score century in all the three formats.
Tillakaratne Dilshan
Tillakaratne Dilshan made his International debut in 1999. He made his first Test century against Zimbabwe; he scored 163 in that match. He scored his first ODI century against Netherlands; he scored 116 in that match. In 2011, he became the fifth player to score century in all the three formats; he achieved these feat by scoring 104* against Australia.
Martin Guptill
Martin Guptill made his International debut against West Indies on 2009 and scored his first ODI century in the same match; he scored 122* in that match. He scored 189 against Bangladesh to score his first test century. In 2012, Guptill scored his first T20 century; he scored 101 against South Africa and became the sixth player to score a century in all the three formats.
