The two-match Test series between India and Bangladesh will get underway at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai on Thursday, September 19. All eyes will be on the two games after Bangladesh whitewashed Pakistan 2-0 away from home before landing in India.

The two teams have previously met 13 times in Tests, with India winning 11 times, while two games ended in draws. Bangladesh will be desperate to open their account against the mighty Men in Blue in the traditional format.

The series will likely be a battle between two bowling units. While India boast Jasprit Bumrah, Ravichandran Ashwin, Ravindra Jadeja, and Axar Patel, the Bangla Tigers have the likes of Shakib Al Hasan, Taijul Islam, and Mehidy Hasan in their ranks to exploit the turn and bounce.

On that note, let's take a look at the top 3 wicket-takers in IND vs BAN 2024 Test series.

#1 Ravichandran Ashwin

The veteran off-spinner has been one of India's best performers on subcontinent wickets in recent times. Out of his 516 Test wickets, 413 have come on Asian soil. Such is his impact on subcontinent tracks.

Ravichandran Ashwin will once again be at the forefront of India's spin attack when they square off against Bangladesh. The Tamil Nadu-born spinner has been in good rhythm in recent times and fans will expect him to be among the wickets.

He has the third-highest wickets among Indians against the Bangla Tigers, picking up 23 wickets in 11 innings.

#2 Taijul Islam

The left-arm spinner has been one of Bangladesh's most prominent wicket-takers in Test cricket. He has scalped 51 wickets in 11 Tests since 2022.

Taijul Islam relishes bowling on Asian wickets and is known for his tight line and length. He will look to exploit the weakness of Indian batters against spinners after their recent struggle against Sri Lanka last month.

If Taijul gets his rhythm early, expect him to cause a mayhem against the Men in Blue.

#3 Jasprit Bumrah

Jasprit Bumrah needs no introduction. Everytime he has played, he has caused some serious damages with the ball and the same will be expected when he takes the field against the neighbors.

Bumrah will return to action for the first time since the 2024 T20 World Cup win in June. The right-arm pacer won the Player of the Tournament award for picking up 15 wickets in eight matches at an impressive average of 8.26. He has rested well and will be raring to go as the Men in Blue begin their long home season.

The ace speedster played all five Tests against England and picked up 27 wickets and will look to continue from where he left.
