Last season's champions, Islamabad United, had the last pick in the draft and hence, could not pick from the top of the crop.

They retained 10 players prior to the draft - the most by any team and hence could only pick a total of 6 players in the draft.

England's Ian Bell, New Zealand's Samit Patel, and Australia's Cameron Delport were amongst the foreigners picked in the draft. Players like Faheem Ashraf, Luke Ronchi, and Shadab Khan, to name a few, were retained.
