The Kiwis visited India for a two-Test series in 2003. India, after winning the toss in the first Test, decided to bat first at the Motera Stadium. Dravid destroyed the New Zealand bowling lineup and scored 222 off 387 which included 28 fours and a six. He added 182 for the 5th wicket with Sourav Ganguly who added 100* of his own. India declared at 500-5.
In reply, New Zealand were all-out for 340 giving a first innings lead of 160 runs to the hosts. In their second innings, India scored 209-6 and declared, setting a target of 370 for the visitors. Rahul Dravid once again shone with 73 off 86.
In the last innings of the Test, New Zealand scored 272 for the loss of six wickets and the match was drawn. Rahul Dravid was the Man of the Match for his brilliant knocks in both the innings that gave India a hope of winning the Test.
