Chennai Super Kings didn’t have that happy ending which they would have wished for in the seventh season of Indian Premier League.

CSK ended this season by being at the third position in the points table with a total of 18 points after winning nine matches in the league stage.

They made it to the playoffs where they battled Mumbai Indians in the eliminator. They eliminated the Mumbai Indians to progress further and face the Kings XI Punjab in the second qualifier. Despite Suresh Raina‘s best efforts, CSK lost the match.

However, a few other things also happened in this season which were noteworthy for the Chennai side.

During this season, Raina became the first player to play 100 games and to score 3,000 runs in the history of IPL. Apart from this, CSK also became the first team to play 100 IPL games in this season.

CSK ended this season by winning the fair play award of 2014.

Rating - 8/10
