#7. Parthiv Patel:

Parthiv Patel was a vital member of the Indian Test team which drew a Test series against a dominant Australian team in 2003-2004 in Australia. In the said series, he scored 160 runs at an average of 32 and took 8 catches and was involved in 3 stumpings.
Patel is now on his second tour to Australia after 14 years and is the reserve keeper in the Indian squad. It is very unlikely that Patel will get an opportunity to be a part of the playing 11 with Rishabh Pant being the first choice keeper.
#8. Ravichandran Ashwin:

The off-spinner is all set to play the first Test at Adelaide in the 2018 series. Ashwin has not performed to the best of his abilities down under. He has toured Australia in 2011-2012 and also in 2014-2015.
In his third tour down under, Ashwin will compete with Jadeja and Kuldeep Yadav for a place in the playing 11.
In 6 Tests down under, Ashwin has picked up only 21 wickets at an average of 54.71. He has however made some valuable contributions with the bat lower down the order and averages 27.60 with the bat.
Ashwin's primary job is to pick up wickets and will be a key member of India's bowling unit.
#9. Umesh Yadav:

Yadav has been a part of Indian teams which have toured Australia in 2011-2012 and 2014-2015.
In 7 Tests down under, Yadav has picked up 25 wickets at an average of 43.96. Umesh is a much improved and an experienced bowler than what he was in 2014 and will look to make his presence felt in the team if and when he gets an opportunity to play in the 4 match Test series.
#10. Mohammed Shami:

Shami is one the three pacers who will be playing in the first Test at Adelaide. Shami has been one of the key members of the Indian Test team in the recent past and has been the pick of the Indian bowlers in red ball cricket.
Shami was a part of the Indian team which toured Australia in 2014-2015 and he impressed with the ball by picking up 15 wickets in 3 Tests at an average of 35.80.
Shami has picked up 33 wickets this year in Test cricket at an average of 27.61 and will look to add more wickets to his tally down under.
