Dark cloud continues to loom over IPL

Rajasthan Royal's (RR) player, Pravin Tambe was approached by his Mumbai Ranji teammate before the start of the Indian Premier League (IPL) to fix matches. A reliable newspaper of Mumbai, Hindustan Times (HT), reported it saying leg-spinner Tambe was the one player approached by his local teammate.

The HT stated Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has kept the things confidential by not naming any player who was approached or who approached him.

BCCI president Jagmahon Dalmiya has said the board will come out with their reports after their internal committee investigate it.

“The investigation is the subject of the anti-corruption and security unit (ACSU) and once it submits the report, the disciplinary committee of the BCCI will act on it,” said Dalmiya.

Mumbai will pick 30 member squad for the upcoming Ranji season in July. There are chances of the player who approached Pravin Tambe to get selected in the team.

Nitin Dalal, who is Maharashtra Cricket Association's treasurer commented saying that they haven't received any information from BCCI's end.

“We haven’t received information from the BCCI on who the two players are. We will not know till they inform us,” stated Dalal.

In a sensational development last month, Enforcement Directorate (ED) carried out a pan India raids in many cities and said that five IPL games are under spot-fixing scanner. The raids were conducted after a month-long monitoring on players, team franchises and bookies.

IPL is not new to match fixing allegations. In 2013 season, 3 players from Rajasthan Royals were found guilty of spot-fixing.
