What's the story?

David Richardson, the International Cricket Council (ICC) chief on Thursday called the Indian team a "well-behaved" one while responding to the queries about recent controversy that aroused at a talk show. Richardson also praised captain Virat Kohli and said that he is a great ambassador for the game.

The background

Indian cricketers, Hardik Pandya and KL Rahul, were involved in a controversy post their outing in a talk-show, Koffee with Karan. The duo made some inappropriate comments at the show, which made them face a huge backlash.

Later they were suspended by BCCI and called back mid-way during the Australia tour, however, recently their suspension was revoked pending inquiry.

The heart of the matter

Soon after the controversy grounded, people started questioning team India's behavior and cricketers mentality. ICC chief who was here for a promotional show regarding World Cup though found no doubt in calling India a well-behaved team.

While replying to the questions about Hardik Pandya's sexist comments in a talk show, ICC CEO said, "That's the issue for the member country to worry about and generally the Indian team is a well-behaved team. They come to matches and accept the umpire's decision. They play in the right spirit,"

Richardson also made some comments on Virat Kohli-led side's recent performance, "I think it's a natural progression, India always have the potential, millions of people play the game and love the game and things in this country have proved tremendously," he said.

What's next?

India have already clinched the five-match ODI series against New Zealand. Though they have lost the fourth ODI at Hamilton, they would want to finish the ODI series on a high by winning the fifth and final game of the series at Wellington.
