Rohit Sharma eclipses George Bailey to become the highest run scorer in a bilateral ODI series

Rohit Sharma’s double century and George Bailey’s early dismissal meant that the Indian finished on top of the runs chart

Australian Cricket has found a new hero in the form of their new captain. George Bailey, in this ongoing series against India, has been in prolific form and become the highest run scorer in a one day bilateral series after his century in the 6th ODI in Nagpur.

But, just a few days later, that record has fallen again, as Rohit Sharma’s magnificent 209 yesterday in the final one-dayer in Bangalore meant that he leapfrogged Bailey to emerge on top. Bailey, for his part, was involved in a calamitous run out which ensured that he could not add much to his tally, leaving Sharma as the leading run scorer with 491.
