#4 First Indian to win the Purple Cap in IPL 2009

Due to the clash of its schedule with the general elections in India, the IPL had moved to South Africa for its second edition in 2009. R P Singh was a part of Deccan Chargers in that year (now dysfunctional).

He had earlier starred in India's 2007 T20 World Cup triumph in South Africa and carried the same form in the IPL. He utilized his experience of bowling on bouncy pitches of South Africa and guided Deccan Chargers to the crown.

He picked 23 wickets to win the Purple Cap and helped Deccan Chargers win the IPL 2009.
