According to NDTV, Melody Queen of India – Lata Mangeshkar and cricket icon- Sachin Tendulkar were invited by Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) chief Raj Thackeray at his residence this Sunday to felicitate the great batsman.

Raj Thackeray is known for praising both Tendulkar and Mangeshkar for their outstanding performances in their respective fields. The legendary Bollywood singer gifted Tendulkar with a frame which included the lyrics of two of the greatest hits by Lata. Lyrics of ‘Tu jahan jahan chalega’ and ‘Piya tose naina lage re’ were in the frame followed by autograph by Lata.

Lata showered praises on Tendulkar: “I loved his cricket a lot. As a human being, also I like him a lot.”

She said that many a time, the legendary cricketer had wrongly been declared out by the umpire.

“However, he never looked back at the umpire’s decision. am sad that he has retired from the game. He should have played for some more time,” Lata said.

Sachin, who considers Lata like his mother, presented the singer with an autographed shirt with a message on it. Sachin thanked Lata for all her blessings.

“I am moving into a new house. So, I wanted to have some kind of article which Lata Didi had used, to keep it in my music room. Something like a handkerchief,” Tendulkar said.

“When I used to travel to play cricket abroad, I used to listen to music, especially songs sung by Lata Didi. You have been my silent companion,” he added.

It was a big event for Raj Thackeray as he considered himself very lucky to host two of the most famous Bharat Ratna award winners at his house.
