Sachin Tendulkar, who served Indian cricket for almost two and a half decades needs no introduction. Labelled as the ‘God of cricket’, the ‘Master Blaster’ has the record of being the only cricketer with a century of centuries to his credit.

All through his splendid career, the right-hander grabbed many hearts through his performances and earned a lot of fame which not only made him famous amongst fans, it also led to a huge source of revenue from advertisements and brands who wanted him to lend his presence as an ambassador for them.

One of the richest Indian cricketers, Sachin featured in the Annual Forbes List for 2013 and 2014 as one of the highest-paid athletes with an earning of almost 18 million USD from endorsements. Post retirement, Sachin Tendulkar has lent his presence to several TV commercials and owns Kerala Blasters, an ISL franchise.

An idol for many, Tendulkar holds the numero uno position on the charts of the ‘Richest cricketers in the world by net worth’ as per 2016. With the amount of income the Master Blaster has generated over time, it comes as no surprise that the amount of money he has shelled out on his new house is over 70 crore.

Time before the dream

Sahitya Sahawas Colony

A child prodigy, Sachin made his international debut aged 16. He spent all of his childhood in the Sahitya Sahawas Colony in Bandra, which is known to house some of the most promising talents in the field of literature, art and sports. The colony was his first house, where he stayed for 28 years on the fourth floor of the ‘Usha Kaal’ block and is also the place where Sachin first picked up a cricket bat.

In 2001, Six years after his marriage, Sachin moved into La Mer, an apartment in Bandra (West) where he resided on the 10th floor along with his family. In 2007, the ace right-handed batsman purchased a dilapidated villa called the Dorab Villa from the Satra Group for an amount of around Rs. 35 crore which was built in the 1920s and originally occupied by a Parsi family – the Wardens.

The bungalow spread over an area of 10,000 sq.ft and was the land on which Sachin’s dream home would be established in the long run.

Sachin’s dream finally comes true

In a move that finally fulfilled a long-term dream Sachin had, the Tendulkar family moved into a sprawling mansion situated at the junction of Perry Cross Road and Turner Road in Bandra (West) in 2011, four years subsequent to purchasing the Dorab Villa.

Presenting the face of a three-storied mansion, Sachin Tendulkar’s beautiful house is actually five-storied, including two basements. The house is said to be constructed in such a way so as to satisfy each of Sachin’s desires and is Vastu-compliant.

The Master Blaster’s fondness for luxury cars was the major driving force for constructing the lower basement, which is capable of acting as a storage space for about 40-50 cars at once. The upper basement encompasses the kitchen, master surveillance room and an area for the servant quarters.

The house, sure to engross curious onlookers has been shielded by a high-walled fencing and is fully covered by CCTV cameras and a couple of sensors such as burglar alarms, fire alarms etc. Apart from the two massive basements, the beautiful house consists of three floors.

The Master Blaster being a Ganesha aficionado, the ground floor houses a small temple and an idol of Lord Ganesha. In addition to the tiny temple, the ground floor also has a large dining area and an area which showcases the innumerable number of awards and accomplishments Sachin has been credited with over the passage of time.

The top two floors are dedicated fully to the Tendulkar’s as their living space and bedroom area. The first floor is adorned in a bid to suit the needs of Sara and Arjun Tendulkar, Sachin and Anjali Tendulkar’s two children while the second floor is designed to mainly suit the needs of Mr. and Mrs. Tendulkar.

The terrace is no doubt the highlight of the house which is embellished with a swimming pool and a gym.

Insurance cover

The Tendulkar’s bought the house for a mammoth price, and it does not come as a surprise that the house is insured at over Rs. 100 crore. The insurance is divided into two parts. A Rs. 75 crore policy for fire insurance and Rs. 25 crore policy for the valuables inside the house.

The fire insurance covers all needs such as burglar alarms, electronic surveillance around the house while the other part covers the other items inside the house such as collections, kits, furniture etc.
