Former India captain and head coach Rahul Dravid turned 52 on Saturday, January 11, 2025. Commentating during a Test match between India and England, Dravid engaged in a funny banter with Sourav Ganguly, another former Indian captain.
Dravid was checking up some numbers to figure out how many overs he gave Sourav Ganguly and Sachin Tendulkar during his time as captain of the Indian Test team.
Dravid, with an aim to engage in a funny banter with Ganguly, stated that Sachin had more Test wickets than him.
"I was just trying to figure out how many overs I gave to Tendulkar and Ganguly and maybe underbowled Ganguly there. But Sachin has more Test wickets than Ganguly," he said.
To this, Ganguly replied that Sachin bowled a lot on turning pitches in India. He added that he wished he could bowl some spin too.
"Because he (Sachin) bowled half his overs on turning pitches in India. Those turning pitches on Day 5 in India, those dust bowls. I wish I knew how to bowl a bit of spin," Ganguly stated.
As Rahul Dravid mentioned Sachin has more Test wickets than Ganguly, the former all-rounder, added that he did a perfect fifth bowlers' job on good pitches.
"On good pitches where you needed skill, look at the economy, perfect fifth bowlers' job," he said.

In the same conversation, Rahul Dravid also mentioned that Sanjay Manjrekar, another former Indian cricket, made a good point while commentating.
"Sanjay Manjrekar made a really going in the commentary box. Had Ganguly been a yard quicker, just a little bit fitter, he would have been a match winner," Dravid stated.
Ganguly funnily hit back at Dravid, saying that he could have done a whole lot of things had he been the Prime Minister of India. Further, Ganguly added that Dravid would go to him when the going got tough.
"Ask Rahuk Dravid. When he won the toss in Trent Bridge 2007, our famous win in England after 26 years. India were going at almost 6 an over. Who did he fall back to?," he questioned.
Carrying on the banter, Dravid replied that he did not deny what Ganguly said. However, he added that if Ganguly did not get tired after 5-6 overs, he would have bowled him much longer spells.
