SydneySacked Australia coach Mickey Arthur has hired legal counsel and is planning to sue Cricket Australia (CA) for his dismissal three weeks ago.

Arthur, who was sacked just 16 days before the start of the Ashes, was replaced by former Australian player Darren Lehman.

The Weekend Australian newspaper reported Saturday that Arthur had been offered a cash settlement by CA and that he received no notice of termination despite having a three-month notice clause in his contract.

Arthur had been contracted to the end of the 2015 World Cup.

At the time of his sacking, Arthur gave no warning of his intentions, saying,”All I can say is I have given this job 100 per cent commitment,” he said at a press conference in Bristol, where Australia were playing an Ashes warm-up game.

“If it wasn’t good enough, so be it. I leave with a lot of professional pride and a lot of professional dignity.”

Cricket Australia refused to comment on the report.
