Sam Curran debuted in the 2019 IPL season while playing for the Punjab Kings, who were called Kings XI Punjab back then. The very next year CSK acquired him for the 2020 season. He played with CSK for 2 consecutive seasons. Sam Curran missed the 2022 IPL as he did not appear for the mega auction window due to his back injury. In the 2023 season, he was the most expensive player in the IPL acquired by Punjab Kings again. Currently, Sam Curran is retained by PBKS for the 2024 IPL season.

Sam Curran IPL Auction Price
Sam Curran debuted in the 2019 IPL season when Punjab Kings shelled out INR 7.2 Crores for the pocket-sized dynamo. He was in the spotlight that season, following his exploits with both bat and ball in the 2018 Test series in England.
While he didn't exactly have the best of seasons- 10 wickets in 9 innings- Sam made a mark in his 2nd outing when he became the youngest player to claim an IPL hat-trick- vs Delhi.
Sam was picked up by the Chennai Super Kings for INR 5.5 crores the next year in 2020, and it's at this franchise, where he played his best cricket. The seam-bowling all-rounder proved to be one of the few shining lights in an otherwise disastrous season for the Super Kings. In 14 games, he claimed 13 wickets besides scoring 186 runs at a strike rate of 131.91.
He didn't have a great time in 2021, even though he did have his moments, like dismissing Andre Russell in a high-scoring affair.
Curran did not take part in the 2022 mega-auction due to injury but following a blockbuster T20 World Cup winning campaign, he cashed his way to a record-tumbling INR 18.5 Cr bid with his former franchise PBKS at the 2023 mini-auction. He was retained by PBKS for the same amount in the 2024 IPL season
